Asylai was born in 2001 in the At-Bashinsky district of the Naryn region and currently resides in the village of Kyzyl-Tuu. She is a housewife.
“I got married when I was 18 years old. I first met my future husband at a relative's wedding, where he was the best man and I was a bridesmaid. Later, we started messaging each other on social media since we are both from the same village. At first, he didn’t tell me about his feelings, but he managed to find common ground with my parents,” Asylai shares her memories.
Teyyub Yunus speaks Kyrgyz fluently, even better than Asylai herself. “He often helps me with new words. Although he is originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, he grew up in a Kyrgyz village and knows the local traditions well. It was easy for me to adapt after marriage, and I quickly found common ground with his parents. On the contrary, it took them some time to get used to me,” Erkinbekova recounts.
Asylai recalled a funny incident from her marriage: “When I first got married, I was sitting at the table, and my mother-in-law and Teyyub were speaking in Azerbaijani. I didn’t understand them and cried, thinking they were discussing me. Now I find it funny because they were just communicating in their native language. Now I understand Azerbaijani quite well, and they joke that they can no longer speak in secret.”
Culinary arts are one of Asylai's hobbies. “I love to cook a variety of dishes and desserts. My mother-in-law sells flowers and is teaching me this trade, hoping that I will continue it in the future,” she added.
The couple is raising a son and a daughter and plans to send their parents on a pilgrimage to Mecca in the future, as well as visit Azerbaijan.
