The trial at the Lenin District Court in St. Petersburg, which will start on January 29, 2026, concerns Ekaterina Bivol, who was previously married to the famous boxer Dmitry Bivol. She is accused of inciting interethnic hatred.
The basis for the court proceedings was video material posted on one of the Telegram channels in October 2025. Experts from the Center for Countering Extremism (Center "E") noted that this video contains statements that demean the dignity of the Kyrgyz and Kazakh nationalities.
An administrative case has been initiated against Ekaterina Bivol, which could result in a significant fine or administrative arrest. This is not the first time Bivol's name has been at the center of legal disputes, but the current situation has provoked particularly strong public reaction due to the offensive remarks directed at entire ethnic groups.
