Labor veteran Gülü Maametova, a 91-year-old resident of the At-Bashinsky district, shared with a Turmush correspondent the news that her family received their first award for selling 700 sheep.
Recently, a festive event dedicated to International Women's Day took place in the district, featuring a concert program that created a celebratory atmosphere for all the women present. During the event, representatives of the district administration presented awards to women who actively participate in public life and contribute to the development of culture and the socio-economic sphere of the district and the country.
Gülü Maametova, one of the participants in the celebration, spoke about her life journey, which she dedicated to her family and agriculture. Together with her husband, they raised five sons and five daughters while engaging in sheep breeding.
She was born on May 6, 1934, in the village of Kara-Bulun. Gülü received her education in agriculture from 1951 to 1953, and from 1954 she began working as the chief accountant in her native village. In 1956, she married Turganaly Mametov, becoming a shepherd's assistant while her husband worked as a shepherd. They worked in this field for a full 35 years and achieved significant success.

The couple received numerous awards for their achievements, including the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. Turganaly Mametov was recognized as the best shepherd, which earned him a car and a Certificate of Honor, as well as the title of "Labor Veteran." At 30, he joined the party. In 1979, Gülü was awarded the title of "Baatyr Ene" ("Heroine Mother").

Now, Gülü Maametova has 26 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren from her sons, as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren from her daughters. She proudly notes that her children have never suffered from illnesses, thanks to good nutrition and care. "My eldest daughter is now 68 years old, and she still works as a teacher at school No. 39 in Bishkek. I gave birth to her when I was 20. All my children chose their paths, and each found their place in life. After finishing 7th grade, I studied at a vocational school, lived on a scholarship, and had enough for everything. After graduating in 1952, I worked as an economist in Kara-Bulun for two years. But when my future husband returned from the army, I married him and moved to Kazybek. He did not allow me to work in my profession, and we decided to dedicate ourselves to animal husbandry," Gülü recalls.

One of the most significant achievements of their family was receiving their first award for selling 700 sheep, each weighing 63 kilograms. "Everyone in our village knows about this. We achieved this through hard work. Moreover, my sister is the mother of Askar Salymbekov. I recently attended his 70th anniversary," she added.
The parents of Askar Salymbekov are Salymbekov Maatkabyly and Kydykova Sayrake (Bubu Sayra).
