In the Batken region, active measures have begun for the engineering arrangement of the state border with Tajikistan. Currently, the installation of wire barriers has started in the Uuch section of the Samarkandek aiyl aimak.

At the official ceremony opening the work of the engineering groups in the Leilek district, the director of the Border Service, Abdikarim Alimbaev, was present. He announced the start of these activities.

According to the established plan, this year it is expected to fence off 270 kilometers of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The largest part of the work—200 kilometers—will be carried out in the following districts:

- Leilek district: 135 km;
- Batken district: 65 km.

Last year, similar work was completed over a stretch of 150 kilometers. It is planned that by 2025–2026, the demarcation arrangement of a total length of 420 kilometers of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border will be completed.

The main goal of these works is to ensure the security of border areas and clearly delineate the state border line on the ground.

Earlier, on April 29, 2025, work began on the installation of border fencing in the area near the stele at the junction of the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The installation of the fencing started in the Koshmolo area of the Tort-Gul aiyl aimak in the Batken district.

A field camp was established to facilitate these works, providing comfortable conditions for border guards, and special equipment was dispatched.

In the first phase, it is planned to install fencing along a stretch of 420 km along the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, with completion of the work by the end of the year.

Previously, the delimitation of the border was completed, and on March 13, 2025, an agreement was signed in Bishkek between the heads of the two countries regarding border issues.

As a result of a trilateral meeting of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan on March 31 in Khujand, a Treaty on the Junction Point of Borders and the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship were signed. The leaders of the countries noted that these documents symbolize respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as demonstrate examples of constructive dialogue in Central Asia.

During the opening ceremony of the symbolic stele, installed at the junction of the borders of the three states, the presidents participated in the event via video conference. They simultaneously pressed a button on a special stand, after which they officially opened the stele by cutting the ribbon.
This stele is a symbol of the friendship of peoples and a new era of cooperation between the countries after the resolution of border issues.
