"Perhaps soon there will be no border guards at the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan," - Head of the State National Security Committee Tashiev

At the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, border guards may soon disappear, stated Kamchybek Tashiev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the State National Security Committee, on October 30, 2025.

This statement was made during the 91st meeting of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops of the CIS countries, held in Manas. Tashiev held a meeting with the heads of five regions of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Participants in the meeting included: the presidential envoy in the Batken region, Aibek Shamenov; the presidential envoy in the Osh region, Elchibek Jantayev; the presidential envoy in the Jalal-Abad region, Tilek Tekebaev; the chairman of the Sughd region of Tajikistan, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda; and the chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Tajikistan, Mirzonabot Alisher Khudoberdy.

According to Tashiev, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon, are actively working on developing friendly relations. "They are creating conditions for peaceful coexistence. We have no other choice, and there should be none. We must improve conditions for ordinary people and build friendly relations," he noted.

According to the data from the Border Service of the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan as of October 25, 2025, the following engineering works have been completed at the state border:

- 107 km 590.5 m of wire has been installed, including:

- 109,348.5 m of reinforced concrete posts;

- 71,989 m of "Egoza" wire;

- 26,419 m of barbed wire;

- 9,182.5 m of 3D fences.

Additionally, 143 km 655 m of roads have been constructed.



Turmush reported that on April 29, 2025, work began on the installation of border fencing in the Batken region near the stele at the intersection of the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The process of installing the fencing started in the Koshmolo area, which is located in the Ayil Aimak of Tort-Gul in the Batken district.



A field camp has been established in the area to provide comfortable conditions for the border guards. Special equipment has been sent to the site for demarcation work.

In the first phase, it is planned to install fencing along a 420 km section of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, with the work expected to be completed by the end of the current year.

Earlier, on March 13, 2025, an agreement on border issues was signed in Bishkek between the heads of the two states, following the completion of border delimitation work.
At a trilateral meeting held on March 31 in Khujand, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan signed documents regarding the borders of the three countries and the Khujand Declaration of Eternal Friendship.

The leaders of the countries emphasized that the signing of these documents is a sign of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as an example of constructive dialogue and cooperation in Central Asia.

During the ceremony to unveil a symbolic stele established at the junction of the borders, the heads of state participated. The event was held in a video conference format from Khujand, where they simultaneously pressed a button on a special stand. After that, the deputy chairmen of the cabinets of ministers of the three countries cut the ribbon, officially opening the stele.

The stele symbolizes the friendship of peoples and a new era of cooperation, trust, and good neighborliness between the states after the final resolution of border issues.
