The removal of metal and other fences from graves on Sulayman-Too is planned.

This became known on March 25 from the director of the national historical and archaeological museum complex "Sulayman-Too," Mederbek Aparhanov, during a discussion of the reconstruction project.

According to Aparhanov, there is disorder in the cemeteries located on the mountain, leading to the formation of pits and attracting stray dogs and cats. To maintain cleanliness and order, the removal of metal fences, as well as various structures and unnecessary items from the graves, will be carried out.

“We intend to restore order in the main mausoleum, which is located on the southern side of Sulayman-Too. To the north are the mausoleums of 'Bala Mazar' and 'Kaip Mazar.' In the first phase, we plan to remove the metal fences from the mausoleums and tidy them up. If the fences are not removed, the tall grasses growing between them may dry out in the fall, creating a fire risk. We are already clearing dry grass in areas we can reach, but the remaining sections remain untouched, and fires sometimes occur there. Firefighters cannot reach these places and, consequently, cannot extinguish the fire in time,” he clarified.

Aparhanov also noted that stray animals gather in the pits among the graves. The death of such animals can lead to unsanitary conditions, posing a threat of disease spread.

According to him, a working group has been created, which has already held its first meeting, and a fatwa from the muftiate is expected to be issued. Lectures on the plans for the organization of the cemetery on Sulayman-Too will be held in 145 mosques in the city of Osh.

“Work to restore order will begin in April,” he added.

It was previously reported that the reconstruction project of Sulayman-Too will be implemented in two phases. The first phase includes the preparation of a feasibility study and project documentation for the infrastructure. The second phase will be related to the design of the museum exhibition and interior.

The project consists of 12 sections, which are divided into three phases.

The first phase includes the construction and repair of paths for golf carts, the restoration of the Burkiya mausoleum, the repair of the water gate arch, the restoration of monuments from the late Bronze Age, and the repair of the road to the cave complex.

Construction work will begin after the tender, which is scheduled for April 30.
