The UN Secretary-General called for a complete, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire, emphasizing that this would be the first step towards establishing a just peace that must respect the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders.
Matthias Schmale, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Ukraine, expressed deep concern regarding the new wave of drone and missile attacks that are damaging residential buildings, medical facilities, and heating systems. He condemned the ongoing strikes against the civilian population amid the approaching winter.
As a result of missile strikes on Friday morning, the Azerbaijani embassy in Kyiv was damaged. The UN Secretary-General reminded of the importance of the inviolability of diplomatic premises.
UN human rights experts noted that the number of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure has increased. In October, there were widespread power outages in several regions caused by targeted strikes by Russia on energy facilities.
According to media reports, at least six people were killed in the strike on Kyiv on Friday, including two children aged seven and ten. UNICEF called for an immediate cessation of attacks and ensuring the safety of children.
