According to Reuters reports based on anonymous sources, Tajikistan is in dialogue with Russia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) regarding military support due to the worsening situation at the border with Afghanistan.

Negotiations intensified after several attacks occurred from Afghan territory, resulting in the deaths of five Chinese citizens and injuring another five.

One of three informants in the Tajikistan Security Council told Reuters that authorities are discussing the possibility of deploying units from the 201st Russian military base at the Tajik-Afghan border for joint monitoring. "We are in the negotiation stage. I think a decision will be made... this week," the source noted.

Two other sources from the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with Russia, which may include the use of helicopters to monitor the extensive border of 1,344 km.

However, Shohin Samadi, head of the information and press department of the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the Asia-Plus publication that Reuters' information regarding a request for assistance from Tajikistan is not accurate.

"An official response will be provided shortly. Reuters is misleading its readers by publishing such information," he added.

It is worth noting that as a result of two recent attacks from the Afghan side on border areas of Tajikistan, five Chinese citizens were killed and five were injured.
The first attack was on a mining company facility in Shamsiddin Shohin, and the second was on a road construction company in the Darvaz area.

The authorities of Tajikistan strongly condemned these acts of violence and demanded that the "Taliban" detain those responsible.

The Taliban government's response indicates that the attacks were carried out by groups seeking to "create instability and distrust between countries in the region."

In turn, the Chinese embassy in Dushanbe urged its citizens to leave the border areas of Tajikistan and Afghanistan and called on Tajik authorities to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and companies.
