According to reports, the situation on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border remains tense. On October 9, explosions rocked Kabul, after which Afghan authorities accused Pakistan of orchestrating attacks in the capital and in the Margi area.
During clashes on October 11 in the border province of Paktia, numerous combat actions occurred between the border forces of the two countries. According to Afghan sources, 58 Pakistani servicemen were killed in these battles, and 30 were wounded. Afghan forces also reported the seizure of weapons and equipment. A representative of the Afghan government confirmed that nine of their soldiers were killed.
Afghan authorities stated that hostilities ceased thanks to the mediation of Qatar and Saudi Arabia. On the Pakistani side, there are reports of 23 military personnel killed and 29 wounded, as well as the "neutralization" of more than 200 individuals associated with the Afghan leadership.
On October 15, the parties agreed to a temporary ceasefire for a period of 48 hours.
