The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia has announced the extension of the "Years of Visiting Mongolia" program until 2028 to promote tourism development throughout all seasons.
As part of its "Go Mongolia" strategy, the country aims to attract 2 million foreign tourists by 2028.
It is projected that by 2030, the number of international tourists will exceed two billion, and the growth rate of the sector will be twice the global average economic indicators. Revenues from ecotourism are expected to reach $945 billion by 2034, increasing by 14%, while adventure tourism could generate $1.7 trillion by 2032, with a growth of 10%. Revenues from wellness tourism, which also surpassed $1 trillion for the first time last year, will grow by 13% annually.
According to current trends, 47% of tourists visiting Mongolia prefer eco and adventure tours. Experts have noted the importance of adapting tourism offerings to international standards, including improving services, creating new products, and developing infrastructure.
