According to information provided by Damir Jumakhanov, head of the international cooperation and tourism development department of the JSC "Tourism Support and Development Fund," the contribution of the tourism sector to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country in the first half of 2025 was 4.3%. This was announced during a radio broadcast.
According to the report from the National Statistical Committee, as of July 1, 2025, there are more than 143,000 organizations operating in the tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan. These organizations cover a wide range of services—from hotel and restaurant businesses to transportation companies, nature parks, and tourist farms. In the first half of 2025, Kyrgyzstan welcomed nearly 5 million tourists, indicating positive dynamics in tourism development.
Jumakhanov also noted that projects aimed at developing winter tourism infrastructure are being implemented in the country. "As they say, 'the theater begins with a coat rack,' so successful tourism depends on basic conditions and infrastructure. We are creating rest points to ensure comfort for tourists in attractive locations and on popular routes. This year, we have already opened 10 new rest points across the country," he said.
He added that the GoBus project provides the opportunity to purchase tickets for transportation services from anywhere in the world using internet banking and electronic wallets. This also applies to routes to the "Karacol" ski base. "In addition to the existing routes Bishkek–Karacol and Karacol–Bishkek, this year we also launched a similar route along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul," Jumakhanov emphasized.
