In the Issyk-Kul Region, the development of sustainable tourism and the reduction of carbon footprint were discussed

On November 6, 2025, a round table was held in the village of Kara-Oy, located in the Issyk-Kul region, dedicated to the topic "Promoting Sustainable Tourism. Reducing Carbon Footprint." This event was part of the annual "Green Economy" Forum, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

The round table was organized by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Plenipotentiary Representation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Issyk-Kul region, and the Kyrgyz Association of Tourism Organizations. The event was supported by the GIZ Program "Green Economy and Sustainable Development of the Private Sector in the Kyrgyz Republic," funded by the government of Germany, the European Union, and the government of Switzerland, as well as the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek.

The main objective of the discussion was to develop practical solutions for the development of sustainable tourism in the regions, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors in the field of green economy.

Participants in the round table included representatives from various government agencies, international organizations, the tourism industry, and experts.

As a result of the discussions, recommendations were formulated aimed at promoting the development of low-carbon and sustainable tourism in the Kyrgyz Republic.
