On the air of Birinchi Radio, the head of the International Cooperation and Tourism Development Department of the OJSC "Fund for the Support of Tourism Development of the Kyrgyz Republic," Damir Jumakanov, shared information about promoting Kyrgyzstan at international tourism exhibitions.
According to him, previously, the participation of Kyrgyz tour operators in international exhibitions was complicated due to high costs of renting exhibition spaces and preparing stands. Only large companies could participate in such events. In this context, the Fund has become the organizer responsible for coordinating events and selecting target countries for participation. Although there were few exhibitions this year, many events have been organized during the existence of the Fund.
“What you see in the news is just the tip of the iceberg. Behind this is painstaking work, including organizational moments and the human factor, sometimes even stress. We only show the final result, but the path to it can be long and require diplomatic skills. Consular services and our embassies provide us with the necessary support,” he noted.
Jumakanov also reported that next year Kyrgyzstan will begin participating in exhibitions together with the Department of Tourism.
“Earlier, we worked partially independently and partially in cooperation with the department. Now we will act as a united front. A meeting of the working commission was recently held, where we discussed which exhibitions we will participate in,” he added.
Next year, Kyrgyzstan plans to participate in more than ten international tourism events. All commission members participated in the discussion, and a separate decision was made for each exhibition. Jumakanov emphasized that each exhibition has its own characteristics and goals, and decisions were made taking into account the interests of the state, tour operators, and the hotel association.
