A strong storm that hit the Canary Islands claimed the lives of three foreign tourists on Tenerife, the largest island of the archipelago. According to Euronews, many of the victims ignored warnings from local authorities about adverse weather conditions and the dangers of being on the coast.

The stormy conditions in the region have been observed since Friday, November 7, with wave heights reaching up to four meters. According to the police, many tourists ended up in the water while trying to enjoy the sight of the high waves along the resort promenades, resulting in them being swept out to sea. Some were rescued, and the injured were evacuated by helicopters to major hospitals. Some of them remain under medical supervision, with three in extremely serious condition.
