This year, the Asian Beach Games will return after a ten-year hiatus. Over the course of eight days, athletes will compete in 14 different disciplines. More than 3,700 participants from 45 Asian countries have registered to take part, among which Mongolia will present over 100 athletes. Mongolians will compete in nine sports, including jiu-jitsu, kurash, 3x3 beach basketball, and beach wrestling.

Ten years ago, the previous Asian Beach Games were held in Da Nang, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, where Mongolia was represented by 39 athletes in eight disciplines. At that time, the team won seven gold, four silver, and eight bronze medals, which allowed them to take fifth place in the overall medal standings.

The Asian Beach Games, organized by the Olympic Council of Asia in 2007, were created to promote beach and coastal sports. The first competition took place in Bali, Indonesia, in 2008. Thanks to a convenient format for open events, the use of temporary venues, and low organizational costs, the Games quickly gained popularity among host countries and became a catalyst for the development of coastal tourism. Mongolia participated for the first time in the inaugural Games, sending 15 athletes in three disciplines and winning one medal—a gold in beach wrestling (Enkh-Amgalan Tömörkhüü).
