During the meeting, Mayor Nyambaatar emphasized the importance of Australia as a partner and investor in the Asia-Pacific region. He spoke about the measures being taken by Ulaanbaatar to reduce air pollution and combat traffic congestion. In particular, he noted the transition to semi-coke fuel, which has allowed for a 30 percent reduction in air pollution levels, as well as the gradual connection of households to gas supply and the ban on the use of outdated vehicles. Additionally, he discussed the implementation of major infrastructure projects and expressed a desire to develop engineering and technical skills in collaboration with Australia.
Ambassador Zen praised the efforts of the local leadership, noting that the issues of pollution and traffic congestion are relevant for many countries. He also emphasized that Ulaanbaatar has changed significantly over the past two decades and its population is rapidly growing. According to the ambassador, Australia is ready to support the capital of Mongolia and participate in future initiatives that align with the city's priorities.
