The head of the air protection department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, Nursultan Tashybek uulu, stated that "yes, there is an improvement observed every year," in response to a question about the state of air pollution in recent years.

According to him, Kyrgyzhydromet, as a special state body, is responsible for monitoring and analyzing data on air pollution, and it is they who reflect the positive changes in the situation.

“The air pollution index shows that significant progress has been made over the past five years. In 2020, the average annual concentration of pollutants was 0.033 mg/m³, then in 2021 it decreased to 0.029 mg/m³, in 2022 it was 0.04, in 2023 it was 0.034, and in 2024 and 2025 it is expected to be 0.023 and 0.024, respectively. Although this year the pollution level has slightly increased, there is an overall trend towards its reduction,” noted Nursultan Tashybek uulu.

The official also emphasized that the main factors contributing to air pollution in the capital during winter are low-quality coal and transportation.

“Air pollution is observed everywhere. Wherever there is life, it is inevitable. Industrial enterprises are operating, as well as private companies whose activities involve emissions. Therefore, pollution persists, but we are taking measures to minimize it,” concluded Nursultan Tashybek uulu.
