Irina Grishechkina, an architect from St. Petersburg and a member of the team working on the master plan, noted that the level of air pollution in Bishkek exceeds permissible norms by 3-5 times.
Comparing data from 2014 to 2021 shows that green zones in the city have significantly reduced.
Serious problems are also observed in the irrigation system:
- 25% of irrigation networks remain unowned;
- 20-30% is lost during water transportation;
- the level of groundwater is declining by 0.5-1.2 m per year.
