After the publication of the new General Plan for Bishkek, which demonstrates changes in architecture, transportation, and the overall appearance of the capital, numerous public discussions arose. In response, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev organized a press conference to reassure the city's residents.

He reported that this General Plan was developed by a Japanese company and received approval in November of last year. Subsequently, work on the project continued in collaboration with specialists from St. Petersburg.

In 2024, an administrative-territorial reform was implemented, as a result of which the capital significantly expanded. Based on this, the General Plan was developed.

According to the mayor, a period of two months has been allocated for discussion and amendments to the project. After that, the plan will be adjusted and finalized.

The mayor also noted that all norms and requirements will be adhered to in accordance with the General Plan. He addressed one of the most pressing questions regarding residential buildings that fell into areas marked as green.

Project institutes consider residential buildings that have fallen into these areas as undeveloped plots. However, this does not mean that we will start demolishing them from tomorrow.

“We will make all changes in accordance with the project. There is no need to panic: your homes will remain residential,” he concluded.

After the discussions are completed, the authorities of Bishkek intend to make adjustments to the General Plan to eliminate identified discrepancies in the mapping data.
