According to the Hydrometeorological Service, air quality in the country is gradually improving. This was reported at a press briefing by Nursultan Tashybek uulu, head of the Atmospheric Air Protection Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.
However, he noted that smog is still noticeable over Bishkek.

“There are problems with air pollution caused by the operation of various industrial facilities and private enterprises that produce emissions. The capital is actively developing, and the number of residential complexes is increasing. Full gasification of the city is difficult – we offer preferential loans, but there are few willing to take advantage of them. People need to understand the benefits of gasification, and those who continue to use coal are advised to install filters to capture soot. I also notice that with the arrival of autumn, people burn leaves and garbage, so it is necessary to raise the level of environmental awareness,” Tashybek uulu added.
He also emphasized that comprehensive measures are being implemented in the country to reduce emissions.
“The import of fine fraction coal is prohibited in Bishkek and the Chui region, and inspections are being carried out in this regard. Many business structures do not have equipment for cleaning emissions, and during inspections, we issue directives to comply with standards. The number of bicycle paths is increasing, the city is being greened, and citizens are encouraged to use public transport. Gas buses and electric buses are being purchased for the capital, whereas previously diesel minibuses were used. Thus, measures have been taken, but it will not be possible to solve the problem immediately. We all need to approach this issue more consciously,” noted the head of the Atmospheric Air Protection Department.
Let us remind you that Bishkek periodically ranks first among major cities in the world for air pollution levels according to the World Air Quality ranking.
