In winter, due to severe frosts and air pollution, trips to warmer places have become a seasonal tradition for many Mongolians. In recent years, the number of locals traveling to Southeast Asia has been rapidly increasing.
🔥 Increased Numbers
In 2015, only 1,400 Mongolians visited Vietnam and Thailand. However, last year this number rose to 34,400, which means an increase of 24 times over eight years. A more detailed analysis shows that the number of tourists choosing Vietnam increased by 108.7 times to 20,900, while in Thailand the number increased by 10.9 times to 13,400. This impressive growth highlights the dynamic development of the tourism sector in these countries.
Why does Southeast Asia attract? Despite the promising growth of winter tourism, the real reason for this phenomenon is much more serious. Harsh winter conditions in Mongolia lead to high levels of air pollution in Ulaanbaatar, and many families strive to find warm and clean places to protect their children's health.
The comfortable weather in Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and the Chinese island of Hainan attracts tourists, especially during severe frosts and smog in Mongolia.
