President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced these initiatives during a meeting dedicated to urbanization issues in the capital, as reported by his administration's press service.
The economy of Tashkent and its agglomeration are actively developing, and according to the latest data, the city's population has exceeded 3.1 million people. Experts' forecasts indicate a possible doubling of this figure by 2045. In this regard, it is necessary to carry out urbanization processes considering the load on the housing stock, transport and engineering networks, as well as social infrastructure.
During the meeting, the results of the analysis of 85 construction projects covering more than 2.6 hectares were presented. Officials emphasized the importance of adhering to the norms of a unified urban planning approach and that green spaces should occupy at least 30% of the total construction area.
As a result of the discussion, it was recommended to approve the implementation of 18 projects, 12 of which require further development with changes in the area of plots, number of floors, and concepts. 54 projects are subject to revision.
Plans for the expansion of the special industrial zone "Yangi Avlod" in the Yangihayot district were also considered separately. The necessity of a phased relocation of large industrial enterprises from the center of Tashkent and the placement of environmentally safe productions with high added value was emphasized.
According to the capital's hokimiyat, the implementation of the proposed initiatives will allow for an annual increase in gross regional product by $1.5 billion, and budget revenues will exceed 3.5 trillion sums (about $287.3 million). As a result, 260,000 new jobs will also be created.
In conclusion of the meeting, Mirziyoyev noted that funds from infrastructure payments for the projects should primarily be directed towards the creation of new green spaces, with the remainder allocated for the development of urban infrastructure.
