Cuba's Deputy Foreign Minister, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, stated that the military must be prepared for possible aggression from the United States. This statement comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions between the two countries, as reported by Western media.

Fernández de Cossío emphasized that unpreparedness for such a situation would be reckless, given the current global environment. At the same time, he expressed hope for a peaceful resolution of the conflict and the absence of grounds for a military response.

This statement is made amid deteriorating relations between Havana and Washington, as well as the ongoing energy crisis in Cuba. According to Reuters, Cuban authorities link the worsening situation to the tightening of American sanctions on oil supplies.

Earlier, Cuba's President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, confirmed that negotiations are underway with the administration of Donald Trump. However, the Cuban leadership emphasizes that issues regarding the political system and the presidency are not open for discussion.

Additionally, rumors have emerged in the media that the U.S. administration intends to change the government in Cuba, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied these reports, calling them false.
