At the Munich Security Conference, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that Washington has doubts about Russia's true intentions regarding a peaceful resolution to the conflict with Ukraine. He shared his thoughts on the matter.

Rubio emphasized that the U.S. continues to explore options for reaching an agreement that would satisfy both parties—Ukraine and Russia.

“It is unclear how serious the Russians are about ending the conflict. While they claim to be serious, the conditions under which they are willing to end the war remain unclear,” he said.

The head of American diplomacy also added that the U.S. will continue its efforts to promote the peace process.

“I am confident that there is no one present here who would oppose a peaceful resolution to the conflict, provided that the terms are fair and stable,” he noted.

Rubio called for strengthening the partnership between the U.S. and Europe amid rising tensions in transatlantic relations. He emphasized that both sides must work together to ensure stability and prosperity.

“We are convinced that Europe must remain strong. Our fate is intertwined and always will be,” he added.

The Secretary of State also criticized mass migration, calling it a factor contributing to the destabilization of Western societies.

“This is not an issue that can be ignored. It is a crisis that is changing and destabilizing societies across the West,” he concluded.

The 62nd Munich Security Conference is taking place from February 13 to 15 in Germany, where more than 60 heads of state and government, as well as defense ministers from around 100 countries, are gathering. One of the main topics of the forum is the cessation of Russia's military actions against Ukraine.
