Fake GKNB employees deceived a Bishkek resident out of 12 million soms


In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, law enforcement agencies detained three men suspected of fraudulent activities amounting to 12 million soms. According to the police, the criminals posed as employees of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) and, taking advantage of the trust, seized the funds of an elderly person.

According to the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Bishkek, on February 20, a 70-year-old resident of the city reported to the police. He stated that unknown individuals, presenting themselves as GKNB employees, deceitfully obtained 12 million soms from him.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which pertains to fraud. As part of the operational activities, officers of the criminal investigation department were able to identify and detain the suspects: a 19-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 23-year-old residents of the capital, who were placed in a temporary detention facility.

Currently, investigative measures are being conducted to clarify all the circumstances of the case and the possible involvement of other individuals in the criminal scheme.

The police remind citizens that employees of state bodies do not have the right to demand the transfer of bank cards, details, or confirmation codes. Residents are strongly urged not to give access to their accounts to outsiders, and in case of similar offers, to immediately contact the number 102.
