Before taking this position, Atabaev served as the head of the muftiate of Muslims in the Issyk-Kul region.

Since 2015, Atabaev has also led the muftiate of Muslims in the Osh region, where over six years he actively engaged in issues of spiritual education and strengthening interethnic harmony, as well as promoting traditional Islamic values.
In addition, he held high positions in the spiritual administration of Muslims in the capital, including serving as the first deputy mufti of Kyrgyzstan and representing the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia in the European part of the country.
For his achievements and contributions to the development of spiritual life, Atabaev has been awarded various honors, including a letter of appreciation from the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the "Nasyat" medal.
