Schools and kindergartens in Kyrgyzstan are 71 percent supplied with coal

The Ministry of Education reports that local self-government bodies are financing the expenses of educational institutions, including kindergartens, schools, and creative centers, for utility services and the purchase of coal for the autumn-winter period.

Since 2022, the funding for educational organizations in the Batken region has been provided from the republican budget, according to the agency's data.

In 2025, 156.5 million soms have been allocated to ensure coal supply for subordinate educational institutions, including preschool facilities, boarding schools, and orphanages. Of this amount, 121.4 million soms is specifically designated for the Batken region.

So far, educational organizations have received 103.3 million soms, of which 92.4 million pertains to the Batken region.

Additionally, in anticipation of the heating season, the Ministry of Education has allocated an extra 45.4 million soms for the Batken region. These funds will be used for the repair and restoration of boilers in schools.

To date, 95,500 tons of coal have been delivered and stored in educational institutions across the republic, which accounts for 71.04 percent of the required volume.
