These sisters were born on July 16, 2003, in the Kochkor district of the Naryn region, and later moved to Tokmok, Chui region.
Currently, Zhanara is studying in Bishkek, while Anar continues her education at the University of Cassino, Italy.
“There have always been twins in our family. Our paternal great-grandmother gave birth to twins three times. When mom was three months pregnant, her belly was already noticeably round. An ultrasound confirmed the presence of twins. To avoid the evil eye, our parents decided not to tell anyone about us until we were born. Mom fondly recalls how after our arrival, dad sold a cow and threw a celebration,” shares Anar.
Zhanara was born at 07:45, weighing 2700 grams, while Anar was born at 08:00, weighing 3200 grams. The difference between them is only 15 minutes.
“During our childhood, no one could tell us apart, and we were often called ‘Anara-Zhanara,’ with both names said at once. Teachers, neighbors, and even some relatives got confused. Now we hardly look alike, and some say we don’t look like sisters at all. I loved wearing matching clothes, while Zhanara was shy about it. Now our styles are completely different. Neighbors remember us as very active and energetic children, true extroverts. Wherever we went — for a walk or to school — everything turned into an adventure. I remember how we got our first job: the owner turned out to be strange, and the work was much harder than she described, so we ended up running away. If we told everything, it would be a real comedy,” Anar recalls.
In their free time, the sisters enjoy sports, playing volleyball and toguz-korgool (Zhanara holds the title of "candidate for master of sports"), as well as drawing and dancing.
Discussing their dreams, both sisters want to find their place in life and be happy.
“In our family, there are four of us: our older sister Samara, our brother Samat, and us — the younger twins,” says Anar.
Zhanara is currently studying at KGMA, and Anar is at the University of Cassino (Italy).
