For 13 years, Rimma Asankanova has been sharing her knowledge at one of the leading universities in Bishkek.

Rimma Asankovna, originally from the village of Bayetovo located in the Ak-Talinsky district of the Naryn region, graduated from the Shukurbek Beyshenaliev School. After that, she enrolled in the Humanities Faculty of the I. Arabaev Kyrgyz State University, where she obtained a degree in "psychology".

After completing her studies at the university, Rimma continued her education at the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of the same university, where she studied management for two years and defended her master's thesis.

She also underwent training in graduate school at the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, successfully passing the candidate minimum. Currently, Rimma continues her scientific activity and is a lecturer in the psychology department at the Arabaev Kyrgyz State University.

Speaking about her name, Rimma noted that she does not consider it special. "Although there are not many such names. They are usually given to people of Russian or Tatar nationality. My mother chose this name. In my childhood, I didn’t think about its meaning, but later I decided to ask my mom. She told me that at the time of my birth, there was a girl named Rimma living nearby, who was kind and respectful. My mom named me in her honor, hoping that I would grow up to be just as good," she shares.

Interestingly, I was born on March 21, and many ask why I wasn’t named after the holiday of Nowruz, for example, Nowruzgul. I smile and reply that in 1985, when I was born, Nowruz was not celebrated. Sometimes people are curious about the meaning of my name and who named me that; some even don’t believe it and assume it’s a pseudonym.

At first, I didn’t pay much attention to it, but later I decided to find out what the name Rimma means. A search on the internet showed that the name has many meanings. The name Rimma was given to children by both Russians and Jews, as well as Ukrainians. Interestingly, this name was sometimes given to boys as well. One of the meanings is related to the capital of Italy — Rome, while another is from ancient Hebrew, where it translates to "apple." Upon learning this, I laughed a lot, as among my friends we often gave each other names of fruits and vegetables, and I was called "apple" in Russian. Now that I’ve discovered this, my friends joke: "So you really are an apple!" — Rimma recounts.
In addition to her teaching activities, Rimma also works as a kindergarten teacher and has a musical education. She studied komuz and dance for 5 years. In her youth, she recalls participating in talent contests and concerts, where she won prizes.

Rimma is raising three children: two sons and a daughter.

She also shared some funny situations related to her name. "When I was in school, there was a boy named Urmat who loved to tease girls. He called me 'Rim mama' and laughed when I chased after him. Now we reminisce about those moments and laugh. In university, when we had only a female group, we gave each other funny nicknames: I was called Rimmantos, Rimulya, Rimchik, and other names. Now that we all have families and several children each, I nostalgically remember those times," Rimma shared.
