With the onset of autumn, the silver and Balkhash perch experience what is known as a "feeding frenzy" — this is the time when fish actively feed, accumulating energy for the winter months, making them easy prey for sport fishermen.
“This season, perch fishing continued right up to the winter months thanks to the warm weather. Perch bite well on a float rod. The most effective bait is "cut pieces" — small pieces of fresh fish carefully hooked. We noted two main periods of active bites: early in the morning and during the day when the water warms slightly. Perch readily take the bait, making the fishing process very exciting,” said the sport fishermen.
The silver or Balkhash perch was introduced into the water bodies of the Chui region in the 1960s. In modern water bodies, specimens weighing up to one and a half kilograms can be found, although most often anglers catch perch weighing 150-300 grams. Regular catches of this predator are also beneficial for the ecosystem, as it feeds on the eggs and fry of other fish, including valuable species.
