In the Issyk-Kul region, in the Jeti-Oguz area, there has been an increase in the number of jackals (Kyrgyz - чөө), which have started to enter populated areas.

Local residents of the village of Yrdyk shared their concerns about the safety of schoolchildren with a Turmush correspondent.

According to them, the predators have begun to come directly into the village, which raises serious concerns for them about the children who go to school every day.

In response to this problem, the regional society of hunters and anglers organized a hunt for jackals, which took place both on Mount Yrdyk and along the shore of the lake. More than 20 hunters participated in the event, funding their activities independently.

Hunter Turatbek Akhmatov confirmed that the number of jackals in the area has increased, and they have become more persistent in entering the villages.

“We go hunting using our own funds for fuel. It would be helpful if the authorities increased the reward for shooting them and paid more attention to this problem,” noted the hunter.

According to information from the hunters' society, over the past ten months, more than 40 hunting events have been held, during which over 370 jackals were shot.
