During an inspection conducted at the republican medical rehabilitation center Jetty-Oguz, located in the Issyk-Kul region, staff from the ombudsman’s institute identified serious violations of the rights of patients suffering from HIV and tuberculosis.

According to information provided by the institute, the old warehouse building does not meet fire safety requirements. Inside the premises, the ceilings and walls are covered with mold, and over 2 kg of sausages past their expiration date were found in the refrigerator. Additionally, near the food on the shelves, there were rodent control products.

Ombudsman Jamila Dzhamanbaeva sent letters to the Ministry of Health and the Department of Disease Prevention and Sanitary-Epidemiological Surveillance, urging them to take action against those responsible for these violations.

According to the Ministry of Health, as a result of the mentioned violations, the deputy director of the Center received an administrative penalty and was fined 5,000 soms, while a warning was issued to the warehouse employee. Furthermore, the Ministry plans to construct a new warehouse facility to replace the old one, which was recognized as emergency back in 2022.
