Intensive bream fishing is observed in the Ala-Archa reservoir.

This information was shared by local fishermen in a conversation with a Turmush correspondent.

“At the end of autumn, bream start to feed actively, stocking up energy for the winter period. They respond well to maggots and earthworms. Some fishermen prefer to fish with feeder rigs, while others use regular rods. Success in fishing depends on the right choice of bait,” explained Nikolai Baryshnikov, a fisherman with 40 years of experience.

“This season, aromatic baits with strawberry and cinnamon scents are showing excellent results. Bream weighing over a kilogram can be caught. Large crucians have also started appearing in the catches, which are caught on a ‘fisherman's sandwich’ made of pearl barley and maggots,” he added.

Alexander Sosnovsky, an ecological specialist, noted that bream have a laterally flattened body, a long anal fin, and a small head with protruding lips, which they use to suck in food.

In the water bodies of Kyrgyzstan, bream can reach lengths of up to 50 centimeters and weights of 5-6 kilograms. These fish, like crucians, lead a schooling life, and if you manage to catch one, you should expect the next bite,” he said.
