Murad Beishekeev, a 49-year-old resident of Talas, has been practicing wolf hunting for many years.

“I have been engaged in agriculture and hunting since childhood. My three uncles were hunters, and their experience served as an example for me. Hunting is a complex art that requires precision, courage, patience, and perseverance. Only by possessing these qualities can one achieve success,” he explains.

According to Beishekeev, wolves are very sensitive creatures.

“These animals lead packs that can consist of up to 14 individuals. Their weight ranges from 35 to 40 kg, but I shot the largest wolf weighing 70 kg. Wolves hunt strategically, attacking their prey in groups, which leaves almost no chance for escape. One wolf can chase the prey while others wait for it. They also hunt small animals such as hares and marmots,” shares the hunter.

He also noted that recently wolves have become a threat to livestock, causing serious financial losses for owners.

“Many livestock breeders come to us for help. This year in the village of Taldy-Bulak, one person lost over 1 million soms due to wolves that killed more than ten yaks. In another yard, they destroyed 14 heads of cattle. When we go hunting, we first try to shoot the male, and then the female. If we kill the female, the male returns, and we must shoot him as well. A surviving male can start seeking revenge by attacking livestock,” he explained.

“If we manage to get to the attack site in time, we can catch the predator. If we are late, we follow the trail. Given the losses that livestock breeders incur, a quick response is crucial: when wolves appear, immediate action is necessary,” Beishekeev added.

Murad, along with his wife, is raising four sons and a daughter.
