A recent analysis conducted by an international group of specialists from the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that there is no evidence of a link between vaccination and the onset of autism. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced these findings at a press conference held in Geneva.

“We are pleased to report on a new study by the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety, which, based on available data, found no causal relationship between vaccines and autism,” he noted.

The committee conducted an extensive analysis, reviewing 31 studies conducted in 19 countries over the past 15 years. The research included both vaccines with universal antigens and general data on the relationship between various vaccines and the risk of autism. According to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, this is the first such large-scale analysis since 2012, and its results are fully consistent with the conclusions of previous studies conducted in 2002, 2004, and 2012.

He also added that, like any medications, vaccines can cause side effects; however, autism is not among them. “Vaccines are extremely important—they protect both children and adults from serious infections such as COVID-19 and influenza,” emphasized Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
