The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed the lack of evidence that vaccination can cause autism. This is stated in the report of the WHO Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety.

As part of its analysis, the committee examined existing studies regarding a possible link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

According to reports published on Thursday, after a thorough analysis of data collected from January 2010 to August 2025, the committee reaffirmed its previous conclusions that there is no evidence of a causal relationship between vaccines and ASD.

The study considered both general vaccines and those containing thimerosal—a preservative that contains mercury and is often blamed for the potential development of autism. However, scientific research has debunked this theory. The committee noted that a link between vaccines and health conditions can only be established in the presence of several quality studies showing a statistical correlation. According to WHO, out of 31 studies conducted, 20 found no evidence of a link between vaccination and autism.

Additionally, in September, WHO reported that there is insufficient evidence to suggest that the use of paracetamol by pregnant women is associated with the development of autism in the fetus. This statement was made following comments by U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would inform doctors that the use of acetaminophen during pregnancy may increase the risks of autism in children.
