However, the issue of its liquidation has not been brought to the Osh City Council for discussion.
Makstataly Topchuevaev, the acting chairman of the committee, stated that the committee continues to fulfill its duties. "There is information about a potential liquidation of the committee, but there is no official decision on this matter yet. We continue to work," he noted.
Speculation has emerged on social media that the youth committee may be merged with the cultural department of the city of Osh, but there is currently no official information on this matter.
Eldiyar Kadyrkulov, the head of the city’s cultural department, confirmed that such issues have not been raised. "There are no discussions about the liquidation of the committee or its merger with our department. If that were the case, both structures would be disbanded, and a new one would be created based on them. Currently, such a question does not exist," he added.
Previously, work was being done at the state level to optimize municipal and state services, and in several regions, questions were raised about reducing certain divisions. There are rumors in society that the cultural department may be abolished, and the youth committee will be included in the new structure.
According to the press secretary of the Osh mayor's office, Zhyldyzbek Bolotbekov, the question of the liquidation of the youth committee or its merger with another structure has been postponed until next year.
This year, a new office was built for the youth committee, funded by the Osh mayor's office and non-governmental organizations. The building is being prepared for commissioning.
Although the funding for the Osh City Cultural Department is provided by the mayor's office, this institution is part of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
- The Osh City Youth Committee was established in 2011. The first chairman was Sonunbek Junusbaev, who currently holds the position of vice-mayor of the city of Osh.
- The committee receives funding from the mayor's office, with an annual budget of about 10 million soms. It employs 9 people and is responsible for implementing state youth policy at the local level.
