She is best known for her role in the cult film "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears," which was directed by her husband Vladimir Menshov and released in 1979. This work earned the film an Oscar in the category of "Best Foreign Language Film."
Vera Alentova and Vladimir Menshov were married for over half a century until his death in 2021. The couple had a daughter, Yulia Menshova, who also became a well-known television presenter and actress.
According to reports, on December 25, Vera Alentova attended the farewell ceremony for People's Artist Anatoly Lobotsky at the Mayakovsky Theater. During the ceremony, she felt unwell and was hospitalized by an ambulance crew.
