In the trailer released by Pixar, the toys encounter Lillipad — a "high-tech tablet in the shape of a frog," which complicates life for Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the other characters. The voice of the new character is provided by actress Greta Lee.
The premiere of the animated film is scheduled for June 19, 2026.
Returning to their roles will be Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz, as well as Joan Cusack as Jessie.
The director of the new installment will be Andrew Stanton, known for films such as "Finding Nemo," "WALL-E," and "Finding Dory." He is a co-writer of all previous "Toy Story" films and the sole screenwriter for the fifth installment.
It’s worth noting that the first "Toy Story" was released in 1995 and became the first feature-length animated film created entirely using computer graphics. The second installment, released in 1999, was distributed by Disney, which later acquired Pixar in 2006. In 2010, the franchise returned with the third installment, and in 2019 with the fourth, both of which grossed over $1 billion worldwide and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
