The film "Kurak," created in collaboration with the late Emil Atageldiev and director-producer Erke Jumakmatova, will participate in the 42nd Bogocine International Film Festival, which will take place from November 20 to 26 in the capital of Colombia, Bogotá.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, this film has become the only representative of Central Asia at the festival this year. "Kurak" will compete in the main competition program alongside 14 other films from Latin America, Eastern Europe, Germany, Spain, and South Korea. This will mark the film's debut in South America.

The film is a joint project of Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, Serbia, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy, and tells the intertwined stories of three women who face violence and lawlessness in modern Kyrgyzstan. The directors use elements of artistic realism, noir, and documentary filmmaking to raise important social issues.

Bogocine is one of the most renowned and oldest film festivals in Latin America, founded in 1984. It serves as an important platform for showcasing debut feature films by emerging directors. At this festival, awards have been received by such renowned directors as Pedro Almodóvar, Bong Joon-ho, Isabel Coixet, Alejandro Iñárritu, and Rodrigo García.
