According to a report by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), 128 media workers lost their lives worldwide in 2025. Among them were ten women. Of the total number of victims, nine were killed in accidents. In comparison, the number of journalists killed in 2024 was 122, according to IFJ information.
The report also raises an important issue regarding the increasing threat posed by drone attacks on journalists and their vehicles.

According to the organization, Ukrainian journalists Elena Kramova, Evgeny Karmazin, and Tatyana Kulik, as well as French reporter Anthony Lallikan, were killed in targeted drone attacks. Additionally, during one of the attacks, Russian journalist Ivan Zuyev was also killed, as reported in the press release.
