According to a recent report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), nearly 5 billion passengers utilized air travel in the current year of 2025. Forecasts for the next year look even more optimistic: it is expected that in 2026, the number of air passengers will increase to 5.2 billion.

The growth of global passenger traffic next year is estimated by experts to be 4.4 percent, which will lead to exceeding the mark of 5.2 billion passengers.

Additionally, it is predicted that the number of aircraft departures will increase by 3.6 percent, while passenger turnover will grow by 4.9 percent.

Experts note that this data clearly shows that the aviation industry has not only recovered from the pandemic but has also surpassed the pre-crisis figures of 2019, setting new records.

The report also mentions that from 2024 to 2026, the growth rates of passenger turnover will lag behind the increase in global GDP, amounting to only 1.5 times. This is significantly lower than the historical ratio of 2.3 times observed over the past thirty years.

The main obstacles to further development of the industry are structural issues, such as delays in the delivery of new aircraft, queues for maintenance, and a shortage of qualified personnel. These factors prevent airlines from fully expanding their capabilities to meet the growing demand.
