37 million euros will be spent on the concrete lining of part of the BChK

The government plans to lower the groundwater level for the construction of new residential areas.

Funding for the concrete lining of part of the Big Chui Canal (BChK) will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This information was announced by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

According to Bakyt Torobaev, the Deputy Minister, the total budget for the project is 37 million euros.

Currently, negotiations between the government and the EBRD have been completed, and preparations for the corresponding agreement are underway.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture notes that losses of irrigation water transmitted through the BChK amount to 50-55%. The concrete lining of the canal will help reduce these losses, prevent water leakage into the soil and underground layers, and ensure a stable supply of agricultural lands.

In addition, the implementation of the concrete lining of the BChK will simplify the process of creating new settlements near existing ones, the official added.
