The Parliament invites the Cabinet due to growing public discontent
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu reported a sharp increase in dissatisfaction among the population regarding service prices, especially in restaurants, cafes, taxis, and household services. Citizens are mass expressing their complaints about the rising costs, linking it to the actions of the Cabinet of Ministers.
He noted that after the cancellation of service charges in establishments, owners simply began to include these 10-15 percent in the price of dishes.
"It doesn't take a genius to understand — they just raised the prices of dishes. As a result, businesses remained unaffected, while ordinary people gained no benefit," added Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of a detailed analysis before making such decisions, otherwise the population suffers. According to him, in some cases, the cost of services in Kyrgyzstan already exceeds prices in major world cities, which causes serious discontent.
In this regard, he announced that in February, the Cabinet of Ministers will be invited to the Jogorku Kenesh to explain the reasons for the price increase and the quality of services provided.
It should be reminded that the initiators of the bill to abolish service charges in cafes and restaurants were the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh themselves.
