Starting from January 28, 2025, temporary restrictions have been established in Kyrgyzstan on the import of animals from India that may be susceptible to the Nipah virus, as well as on animal products. This decision was made to ensure veterinary and sanitary safety in the country, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The responsibility for implementing these restrictions has been assigned to the Veterinary Service for Livestock Development, Pastures, and Feed under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
The Nipah virus is a dangerous zoonotic infection that can be transmitted from animals to humans. In this regard, the population is strongly advised to avoid purchasing animal products of unknown origin and to pay attention to the presence of veterinary accompanying documents.
The agency assures that the epizootic situation is under constant control, and all necessary measures are being taken in accordance with established standards.
