The majority of the country's citizens live in rural areas
Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov reported at a meeting of the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too" that, according to preliminary data, the population of Kyrgyzstan has exceeded 7 million 300 thousand people.
He added that the final figures will be announced later, once the data verification process is completed. However, it is already known that about 4 million residents, which accounts for 57% of the total, are registered in rural areas.
According to Edil Baisalov, the demographic situation in the country shows a stable population growth and a relatively young age structure. According to preliminary data, the number of children and adolescents under 18 years old is about 1.8 million.
