The discussion about the statement regarding the reduction of 20% of teachers in society continues
In Kyrgyzstan, debates continue following the statement by Edil Baysalov, Deputy Prime Minister, about the need to dismiss 15-20% of excess teachers. Social media is filled with comments, and many citizens are demanding that the authorities respond to these remarks.
One Facebook user expressed dissatisfaction, stating: “The president emphasized the importance of protecting teachers, while the vice-premier makes such recommendations…”. He recorded a video message to the head of state, sharing his opinion.
“Teachers are in a difficult situation. Their salaries are low, and the discipline among children leaves much to be desired. They lack rights, and with frequent changes in ministers, the department's policy changes as well. One minister is a populist, another is a reformer. In such conditions, teachers should be thanked for their work. Therefore, for such statements, in my opinion, Edil Baysalov should be removed from the government,” he added.
It is worth noting that Edil Baysalov criticized the work of teachers and the approach to building educational institutions in an interview with the Nomad TV channel. According to him, since gaining independence, 800 schools have been built in villages, which remain half-empty.
The official also suggested conducting an assessment and dismissing 15-20% of redundant teachers, replacing them with new personnel who can undergo two-week or six-month training courses.
