As part of the program to strengthen the border with Afghanistan, the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are determining which types of weapons and military equipment will be transferred to the border troops of Tajikistan. This was reported by the CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov in an interview with the magazine "Allies. CSTO."

According to Masadykov, the CSTO is actively assisting in the first phase of this program — in clarifying and coordinating the lists of weapons and technical means that will be supplied to the Tajik border guards. Currently, suppliers are being identified and contracts are being concluded.

He also emphasized that one of the key tasks for the CSTO is the implementation of an intergovernmental program aimed at strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border, a decision that was made by the heads of state in Astana in November 2024.

The CSTO members include Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Armenia.
