The incident happened on February 2. Law enforcement received a report that the children had drowned in the canal. An investigative operational group immediately went to the scene. Upon arrival, it was found that the bodies of the children had been retrieved from the water; however, by the time the ambulance arrived, they were already showing no signs of life.
According to police officers, the families of the children lived nearby and were relatives. The canal was located just 300 meters from their homes. It was established that the water body was filled for the purpose of irrigating agricultural land, and there was no fencing, while the edges of the canal were covered with ice. Until 2 PM, no one noticed that the children were missing. One of the children, M. I., who did not speak, approached his mother K. N. and tried to tell her what had happened. Not understanding him, she followed him and, upon reaching the canal, discovered the drowned children and began to call for help.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to the morgue, and forensic examinations were ordered. An investigation is currently underway, and based on its results, a procedural decision will be made in accordance with current legislation.
