Under the water supply access program, the republic was previously allocated 180 million dollars.
In the third and final reading, the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan ratified the loan agreement with the OPEC Fund for International Development.
As stated in the adopted document, the republic will receive 20 million US dollars, which will be directed towards the implementation of the first phase of the "Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation" program.
The loan will be provided on favorable terms: the repayment period will be 20 years, with a five-year grace period, and the interest rate is set at 1.25% per annum.
This tranche increases the total budget of the program, which already amounts to 180 million dollars. The project involves the modernization of infrastructure in 126 settlements in the Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul regions, which will provide safe drinking water to more than 425 thousand residents.
